It’s about having a deep feeling of contentment and knowing that life is a blessing.”
Today’s story teaches us the simple joys of life that we seldom forget as we grow up!
As a young boy from a privileged background was growing up, his father, aiming to impart a valuable life lesson, decided to expose him to the way less fortunate individuals live. The father’s objective was to instill in his son a profound appreciation for all the privileges life had bestowed upon him.
They went to a village and lived with a farmer. They helped the farmer’s family with daily chores. When they left the farm, the dad asked his son if he had learned anything during the time they spent with this other family.
The boy quickly replied, “It was fantastic, that family is so lucky!” Confused, his father inquired about the meaning behind his words.

The boy said, “Well, we only have one dog, but that family has four and they even had chickens! We have a pool in our yard, but they have a river running through their property that is endless. We have lights outside so we can see at night, but they have the wide open sky and the beautiful stars to give them wonder and light. We have a patio, but they have the entire horizon to enjoy–they have endless fields to run around in and play. We have to go to the grocery store, but they can grow their food.”
Finally, the boy added, “Thank you for showing me how they live, I have a new sense of gratitude for our Mother Earth”
This left the father speechless!
Moral of the story: Genuine wealth extends beyond mere material possessions. It involves cherishing the simple joys, appreciating the beauty of nature, and achieving self-sufficiency. If you possess what holds significance to you, you can rightfully consider yourself wealthy.
